What is US Visa Dropbox and What Are The Requirements?

• The US visa dropbox service is provided by the USCIS, which allows some visa applicants to apply/renew a visa without facing the interview at a US embassy or consulate.However, the applicant needs to be eligible to skip the nerve wrecking interview process. Instead, they can submit required documents to a specific dropbox location. The embassy will then issue a new visa and deliver the passport to the same location, or deliver to your home address. So what are the requirements?

  • You have a 5 years of B1/B-2 visa, which is going to expire in 2-3 monthsYou have a valid  B1/B-2 visa which expired within the last 48 monthsYou do not have any overstay in the US or previous record of visa terms violationYou don’t have a prior visa refusal since your last visa was issuedNo criminal records in the US.

  US Visa Dropbox Requirements For Kids

  Kids under 14 are also eligible for the dropbox. They must meet the following requirements:

  • They are applying for the visa before their 14th birthday.The most recent visa was not refused. At least one parent holds a valid US visa and the kid has to apply for the same visa class.

Dropbox for Visa Renewal – Steps

Visa renewal through dropbox is straightforward. You just need to follow these steps:

• Fill out the DS-160 form.

• Create an online profile with USTravelDocsMake a payment of $185/equivalent BDT to any Eastern Bank Limited Branch. You can even choose to pay the visa fees online via BEFTN of your bank.

• Once the visa fee is updated online, answer some questions related to your visa application, and you will receive a “Interview Waiver Confirmation Letter”

• Print the copy of the letter and bring all the related documents to your dropbox location.

• Once the visa is issued, you can collect your passport from the same dropbox location, or even get it delivered to your home with premium delivery fees.

A qualified candidate don’t need to attend the interview but they need to submit required documents. The list of documents might be different case to case basis, but here is a generic checklist.

• The interview waiver confirmation letter.
• Your passport that has a validity of 6 months beyond your US Travel
• Your passport with a recently issued US visa.
• Your completed DS-160 confirmation page.
• Proof that you paid your visa fee.
• A photograph which was taken within the last 6 months.

After receiving your documents, the visa officer will review and make a decision. If the visa is approved, your passport will be returned to you with the visa stickers. Refusal under this section means the visa officer doesn’t have all the information readily available to give a final decision. So, they might need an additional interview with the candidate. Though the online status shows that the visa was refused, the decision might be changed when the applicant appears for an interview and answers the questions of the visa officer.
